Lately, I have found myself always needing to stay awake -probably because of my self induced 1am bedtime (or later…). I have started to maintain a zombie-esque life, nearly falling asleep while walking to classes. For some reason, I think my body’s clock has turned itself so that 2-11 is sleep time! and 11-2 is LET’S GET THIS STUFF DONE time! (except then I procrastinate and don’t actually get anything done).
So basically, I NEED CAFFEINE. GIMMEEEE ALLLL OF IT.
Well there’s obviously no manque of caffeine here. would you like some coffee with those truffles dear sir? nah THERE’S COFFEE IN THE TRUFFLE (although let’s be totally honest, who drinks coffee with truffles? although let’s be honest again, I totally did). Also they’re whipped which means you’re basically only eating 1/2 a truffle but you feel like you just ate one truffle so you can eat 2 truffles for the price of one -it’s a win-win situation!
All this caffeine is probably really unhealthy but I think I’ll worry about that after finals. (although apparently most of the nation is already on break and it’s just MY SCHOOL that decided to extend school for 3 more days? Also three two-hr finals on two days is NOT COOL -not to mention they’re all like mock-AP exams…). End rant.
Fyi, these also make fantastic gifts -just don’t give them to anyone who is planning on sleeping like a polar bear all of winter break, i.e. me.

Mix the espresso powder with the hot cream until fully encorperated. Pour the mixture through a sieve into a bowl with butter and chopped chocolate. Let stand for one minute.
Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. If lumps remain after mixing it for ~3 minutes, place it in the microwave or over a bowl of hot boiling water to heat the mixture and melt the remaining chunks.
Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture until soft peaks form, about 5-10 minutes. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to cool.
When solidified, spoon out tablespoons and roll into balls. Roll in tempered chocolate, cocoa powder, or whatever you like!
